Hello Hello Hello!!!! I am back and super excited about today’s post! Today I am “hacking” a great pattern by Sisboom Pattern CO called the Angie Dress! Sisboom Pattern Company is a favorite because their patterns are so easy to follow and customize to fit every body type. But today I am taking on a new challenge…. maternity wear! So welcome to my post for the Angie hack blog tour!
My first challenge was to simply be able to fit in the Angie. My bust measurements are at the lower end of the 2X size but my waist is off the charts at this point! So I measured the length of the bodice from my shoulder to right above the bump. Since I am 6 feet tall, I did not need to take much length from the bodice to get it to sit where I want it.
The bodice has two front darts and two back darts and an elasticized waist. Knowing that in my 3rd trimester I will be growing quickly and needing the extra space, I used the darts but opted out of the elastic in the waist. Instead I decided to use the sash. The original pattern has an option for a sash but I decided to make my sash thicker to highlight the little one I am hosting for the next few months. So I cut my sash at 6 inches thick and lengthened it some in case I need the extra room.
My next decision was to shoot for a mid thigh length instead of a dress length. This accidentally created a high low look that I think is adorable. So the length is perfect for throwing on with a pair of leggings. And I will be Easter ready.
Thank you so much for coming through and reading my post! Please check out the rest of the contributors for Angie Week in the Sisboom facebook group. And don’t forget to come back and let me know if you are sewing along or if you just want to share your thoughts!
